The present status & achievements of NEIAH, Shillong

• The permanent campus is developing in 20 acres of land near North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS) at Mawdiangdiang, Shillong, Meghalaya under HSCC Consultancy and 1st Phase of the Project will be completed between June’2012 and December’2012 in phased manner. The permanent campus of NEIAH will have all modern and sophisticated amenities for quality medical education and as per the CCIM & CCH norms.

• The undergraduate course on Ayurveda & Homoeopathy will start from August’ 2012 after obtaining due approval from the Department of AYUSH in Phase – I which is under process and follow by Post Graduation in both the stream in Phase – II and International Center for foreign students in Phase - III.
Presently, NEIAH, Shillong is running with both Ayurvedic & Homoeopathic Out Patient Departments (OPDs) to promote & create awareness among the general mass regarding the effectiveness and efficacy of Ayurvedic & Homoeopathic mode of treatment. Moreover, we are organizing Health & Awareness Camps on regular basis in East Khasi Hill District and adjacent areas of Shillong, Meghalaya. We appeal to all the general public to avail free expert consultation and treatment from the below mentioned OPD for all type of chronic and acute illness. We ensure to provide quality health care services through holistic mode of treatment without having any adverse side effects.

Very shortly, OPD City Center of NEIAH is going to open specialty services in the various fields to facilitate specialty care to the patient willing to undergo Ayurvedic & Homoeopathic mode of treatment. The specialty wings will be

  •  NEIAH have conducted a one day CME Programme on Pharmacovigilance for Ayurvedic drugs to sensitize and aware regarding the adverse effects of Ayurvedic drugs to the Ayurvedic Physicians of the North Eastern region.
  • The institute developed a Pharmacovigilance center for the benefit of the Ayurvedic physician as well as for the patients.
  • After the appointment of the doctors at NEIAH, Shillong in October’2010, the NEIAH is conducting Health & Treatment Camps in the East Khasi Hill District of Meghalaya on regular basis to promote and popularize the Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy. So far, we have participated in 16 (Sixteen) Outreach Health & Awareness camps and 4 (four) in collaboration with NRHM, Meghalaya in different location of East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. Moreover, NEIAH, shillong is independently organizing Health & Awareness camps in all the area adjacent to Shillong.
  • Organizing Press meets at Shillong Press Club as a part of mass media campaign to generate public awareness about the potential of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic systems of medicine for enhancing health security of rural communities including disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Regular meeting with the Head Man of Darbar Halls of Shillong was held for their coordination and cooperation for the smooth functioning of the City OPD Centre, moreover, to sensitize and create awareness regarding the potentials of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy in their respective localities.
  • Distribution of Pamphlet on Ayurveda & Homoeopathy is done on regular basis among the general masses of Shillong and adjacent areas to avail free consultation and medicine from the City OPD Centre at Nongrim Hills.
  • Scientific paper presentation was done by our Ayurvedic doctor at the International Ayurveda Congress held at Jorhat, Assam from 20th & 21st Nov’2010, Re-orientation programme of AYUSH Doctor’s held at Health complex, Shillong, Meghalaya sponsored by Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India and another got selected for oral presentation at the 4th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo held at Bangaluru, Karnataka from 9th to 13th December’2010 but due to late receive of the information, the doctor was failed to attend the same for presentation.
  • Scientific papers of two of our Ayurvedic doctors got published in the abstract book of the 4th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo held at Bangaluru, Karnataka from 9th to 13th December’2010.
  • A Memorandum of understanding had been signed with the IIM, Shillong to provide free health care facilities to the Students, Faculties, Officers and Staff at the IIM campus. The Doctors from NEIAH will visit the IIM, Shillong on all weekdays.
  • The Medical Officers and NEIAH representative had under gone various Training Programme/ Seminar / CME / Conference / ROTP under continued medical education programme for enriching & upgradation of the technical knowledge of the officials which would help in rendering quality health care services to the general masses. The officials have attended International Ayurveda Congress held at Jorhat, Assam, 4th World Ayurveda Congress & Arogya Expo held at Bangaluru, Karnataka., Seminar-cum-Workshop on Yoga for AYUSH Doctors held at Government Ayurvedic College, Guwahati, Assam sponsored by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, CME Programme held at National Institute of Homoeopathy, Salt Lake, Kolkatta, West Bengal, Re-orientation programme of AYUSH Doctor’s held at Health complex, Shillong, Meghalaya sponsored by Dept. of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
  • Every efforts are on to start the colleges from the academic session 2012-13 accordingly proposals have been sent to respective Councils i.e. CCIM and CCH for permission to start the college and NEHU, Shillong for affiliation for the courses.
  • The official Website of NEIAH, Shillong which is the mouth piece of the institution has been developed with technical assistance from National Informatics Center, Shillong and launched online for the general public by His Excellency, the Governor of Meghalaya Shri. Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary on the 2nd June’ 2011 during the 1st Foundation Day Celebration of NEIAH.
  • NEIAH has organized a day programme to commemorate the 1st Foundation Day Celebration of the institution on 2nd June’2011 at the Auditorium of Old Guest NEHU, Shillong.
  • NEIAH has published a yearly Souvenir “AYUHOM” and a News Bulletin of the NEIAH which was also the 2nd News Bulletin of NEIAH published in this year.
  • This Institute is going to organize a two days National Seminar on “Value of Rasayana drugs along with single drug therapy as an Immunomodulator” on 20th & 21st March’2012 at Old Guest House, NEHU Campus, Shillong.
