Report on National seminar on the value of “Rasayana Drugs along with single Drug Therapy as an Immunomodulator”
North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy Shillong, an Autonomous Institute under Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India organised a national seminar on the value of “Rasayana Drugs along with single Drug Therapy as an Immunomodulator” sponsored by National Medicinal Plant Board, New Delhi.The objective of Seminar was to develop the AYUSH system of medicines particularly in Homoeopathy and Ayurvedic in North Eastern region. The two day seminar organized at NEHU Campus of Shillong was inaugurated, by Shri P P Shrivastav Hon’ble Member Secretary, NEC who was the chief guest of the event. He was accompanied by his lady wife Smt. Usha Shrivastav. Other dignitaries present during the inaugural session of the seminar were Dr. P. Bhattacharjya, HOD, Anaesthesia Deptt. NEIGRIHMS and Dr. A. Phukan, Medical Superintendent and HOD, Deptt. of Micro-Biology, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong.
Prof. S. P. Bhattacharjee, Director, National Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy welcomed the Chief Guest, other Dignitaries and participants.
Dr. A. Phukan addressed the seminar as Guest of Honour and enlightened the audience with the importance of reviving our traditional system of medicines to ensure good health of the society. He discussed the importance of immunomodulator derived from herbal medicines.
Dr. P Bhattacharya, Appointed Speaker during his lecture laid stress on the benefits of using traditional herbal medicines used in Ayurveda and homoeopathy for treatment of patients who are critically or seriously ill and need to regulate their immuno system for their recovery.
Shri P P Shrivastav delivered the inaugural address during which he expressed his considered views about health care system required by the people. He stressed that our approach should be patient friendly and we should not hesitate to pick up all good things from various available systems and provide to the patients for their benefit and welfare.. He said that we need to integrate best of everything to provide desired results. He brought out that we have a very rich cultural heritage and traditional system of herbal medicines which should be revived and further strengthen for taking our country forward and achieve full freedom in all respects.
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. M K Razdan, Consultant (Administration/ Accounts) where he extended sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and all the dignitaries for attending the inaugural ceremony .He thanked the delegates attending the National Seminar from different States for Choosing to attend the Seminar and taking pains for travelling from their respective states. The organizers also expressed their sincere thanks to other dignitaries, guests, media persons and participants.
96 participants from different parts of India attended the two days Seminar wherein Lectures were delivered and presentations made by Able Resource Persons drawn from various concerned areas of specialization from Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Institutes of Meghalaya. The Seminar was fruitful and all the participants were highly satisfied and greatly benefited.
On 21st March”2012 at 4:00 pm, the valedictory session of the National Seminar was conducted by distributing certificates of participation and a memento to all the participants as a remembrance of the National Seminar by the Director of NEIAH. Before the conclusion of the National Seminar, a few participants also expressed their experience and the knowledge they have gained through this National Seminar.
The programme concluded with a light refreshment and a photo session.
